Yes, I'm still in my shoe painting mode! I can't help it, I just love it. Instead of showing you the whole shoe, I wanted something different. I love the cropping, it's obvious that the painting shows a high heel, but then again it has certain abstract qualities about it too. I defenitely like that!

 This is one of the rare acrylic paintings I've created. I began with a base of iridescent copper paint, allowed it to dry and then, as usual with my celestial creations, began to paint spontaneously.   The photo does not do this piece justice. I'm happy with how it turned out. Here's another painting that would be magnificent on a very large canvas....one of these days I will actually do it and stop talking about it...

"For the Show" by gerald schwartz

 Oh!, I know... I haven't done my daily posts.  I can't figure out how to paint quite that fast. Yes, sometimes I can and do, BUT this year I found myself needing a change.  No, not moving or lifestyle, but what to paint and how to say it.   It's easy to paint the same thing over and over, it's you know... "safe" SO! for the past seven months I stepped out and away from my soothing, calming, pretty landscapes.  Now, before I go any further, I am talking about my new canvases not my little baby posts.  See, I have this up coming show and everyone knows me for my sky paintings, again, comments  from fellow artists and passerby's or as we like to think of them "Clients" " How peaceful, soothing and calming your skies are" ..... Well I'm here to tell you, all that is bye bye, finished, through.... Is it scary? YES!, but I have to go down that road.  I struggled and labored over these pieces for they did not come easy.  The progression was laborious, but slowly things began to show some promise.  Canvas after canvas a door was opened revealing new thoughts.   I have finished eight canvases and I am "almost" ready for this two month long seven days a week major art show of a new me.

I love to go outside in the early morning to see what's perking in my garden.  It's cool and the birds are chattering away and the other noises of the coming day have not begun.  This particular morning there was a deep fog that made everything seem a little myserious.  

My first Clematis of the season struck me as it seemed to be nestled in the crotch of the dark Katsura tree behind.

Saturday in the Park

This was painted from a photo I took in Millennium park in Chicago. We had just had a nice dinner in the park and then it was twilight, that was about six years ago and I still remember the feeling of being in the park that night and the beauty of this garden. I love painting from a photo that has such wonderful memories. I kept singing the Chicago song, Saturday in the Park while painting this hence the title. Today will be a busy day in all the city parks - everyone have a wonderful Memorial Day!! Thinking of those today who have loved ones who gave their life for our freedom.

When we were in Morocco we spent three days out on the desert east of the Atlas Mountains. One of our excursions was a two mile hike to a small nomadic Berber encampment. We sat in the tent and drank tea with this woman and her daughter--the young girl I painted a portrait of a couple of weeks ago. Our guide spoke a lot about the history of the Berbers, a people that I hadn't known anything about.
