Beyonce Giselle Knowles, born September 4, 1981, born and raised in Houston, Texas. She rose to fame in the late 90’s as the lead singer of the R&B girl group, Destiny’ Child. She began her acting career in 2001 and received two Golden Globes for Dreamgirls. She composes, tours, designs clothing and perfume. Endorsements include: Pepsi, Tommy Hilfiger, Armani just to name a few. Her favorite colors are red and gold. She is a true entertainer that takes it very seriously. One of my favorite movies is “Fighting Temptations” where she ends up helping Cuba Gooding Jr. take over the church choir as a dying request of his aunt. Her performance of Fever is timeless, which was not a choir number. Must see, she can sing!

Mission life is quite different today than it was when the early missionaries traveled north through California and established the beautiful chain of missions. The Carmel Valley is part of California's Central Coastal areas and is a favorite tourist attraction. Today Carmel's beautiful mission is thriving with a school and of course the many visitors to the building itself. On this morning the buildings shaded the volunteers as they began setting up for their baked goods sale.

I took some photos of big-horned sheep at the L.A. Zoo, but the ones that are housed there are the desert variety. I wanted to paint my big-horned ram in a mountainous setting. In order to make him look like a Rocky Mountain big-horned sheep, I added muscle-mass to his neck and body. Unfortunately, these beautiful, majestic animals are endangered. 10% of the sales price of this painting will be donated to the National Wildlife Federation.

There are some wonderful artists on this site that paint gorgeous sunflowers. I'm still learning! I've just painted a handful and this one was done with oils and it shows a closeup partial view of a sunflower. This is one of those flowers that just looking at it, makes me cheer up and relax!

Vegetable Still Life, Burgundy Beets, Kim Blair
Burgundy Beet is painted from the series of photos I took of those humungous beets our neighbour grew last year, (See postings from October 28 & 29, 2009). My research tells me that red beets are unique for their high levels of anti-carcinogens and its very high carotenoid content. Betacyanin is the pigment that gives beets their red colour; this pigment is absorbed into the blood corpuscles and can increase the oxygen-carrying ability of the blood by up to 400 per cent! A beet seems to be an amazing vegetable...
Just think, if you hang this beet painting on your wall you will always be reminded to 'eat your beets'.

I began this painting a few years ago. At the time, I thought I was close to finishing it when I put it aside. Something was nagging me about it but I couldn't put my finger on it. The yellows and the streams of yellow light just weren't right...either in the color or shapes. I didn't have the patience or inclination to continue painting...simply lost interest. It was hidden behind a few other paintings in my storage room upstairs. I unearthed it recently, softened the yellows and fixed up the streams of light...now I'm very happy with it.
I won't be posting any paintings this weekend. I will be presenting my MASTER YOUR INTUITION Workshop Saturday and Sunday in Saratoga Springs, NY. I am open to taking last minute registrations (thru tomorrow-Friday)...so, if you are interested in discovering and developing your latent natural intuitive/psychic gifts, contact me...
