Day Dreams: oil impasto painting

"Day Dreams" is an 8 x 10" original oil painting I painted for pure fun. It was painted entirely with a pallet knife using very heavy impasto. This tropical beach scene of a hammock tied to palm trees is for sale. "Day Dreams" is framed in a dark wood 2" custom frame which is included in the price of $295. (plus $20 for shipping)

This exciting new event is being organised by the team behind the highly successful Windsor Contemporary Art Fair, which is now already in its sixth year.

Venue: Rivermead Leisure Complex, Richfield Avenue, Berkshire, RG1 8GQ

Organiser Sarah McAllister says: “We are very excited about launching the Reading Contemporary Art Fair, our events have always been about bringing stimulating new art to the widest possible audience. This painting was especially difficult. Seems like it took forever to complete and I'm not sure why. I didn't think it would be difficult when I began. In any case, I am very pleased with the outcome. I'll wait a while before I use this fabric again...perhaps I will forget the difficulties if I wait long enough.

I was busy today creating flyers and postcards and ads for my upcoming weekend workshop "Master Your Intuition" taking place May 1 & 2. The link will take you to the home page of my website. The link for the workshop is at the upper right in red.

The home page at my website has been re-written and I've included some testimonials. This was prompted by a serendipitous connection I made with Theresa Brown of Art Career Experts. I have had quite a bit of conflict integrating my intuitive work with my artwork and have thought of creating separate websites from time to time. Theresa suggested I keep the website I have. She graciously re-wrote the home page for me to integrate both...I'm happy now. What do you think?

It rained quite a bit and then to paint a ship that's called

"stubborn" was funny.

I originally painted this composition in 2008. It is hard to believe it has been two years! It seems like yesterday. I loved painting it then and it was just as fun the second time around.

For this painting, I hoped to capture the drama of a rain over a quiet pasture in almost anywhere in rural United States. The hanging clouds and appearance of water on the roadway give that feel. For those of us who love the countryside, this one almost gives the "smell" of rain.
