"APPROACHING RAINS" original oil painting

Having a love hate relation with the ocean as I have never ever learned to swim nor am I a seascape artist I'm compelled to paint it.  My  painted miniatures is my outlet to express that need in exploring the rhythms of the tides.  Here you have a 6x6" oil of just such that I speak of.  For more on this and others please GoTo or email me at

I am reposting this painting during the full moon phase we are in. I understand this month's full moon is the largest of this year. It's actually not any bigger than it usually is, but closer to the Earth so it appears larger.

I wanted to paint another full moon but  had a few other paintings in the works and decided not to entertain any more of an ADD state. Good for me!

...and here is a web page of all my currently Available Celestial Paintings.
Still obsessing with my futile desire to be able to fly out there in space. You can email me with any inquiries.

This a little historic spot, that had an Indian battle. It is a beautiful spot, marshland with access to a beautiful beach. Evidently, at one time it wasn't a pretty place to be. Some history is cruel, but necessary to know, especially if it is now a revered spot. Visit my blog to see some more oils and pastels.

FIAT LUX trompe l'oiel painting by Barbara Fox

Fiat Lux
watercolor and gouache 8 x 16"
please contact me for purchase information
This painting is for an exhibit with the theme "Fiat Lux", which means "let there be light". Each artist can interpret this phrase any way they choose. The writing on the paper is "let there be light" in Greek, and the old etching is an image that immediately popped into my mind when I was invited to join this exhibition. For some reason, I have great recall of artwork I've seen. Tracking the image down was a challenge. Thank goodness for Google!

The exhibition will be at the Oxford Gallery in Rochester New York in March.

SEPARATION ANXIETY

Claire Beadon Carnell

'Separation Anxiety'
Oil 6 x 6

I love tomatoes fresh from my garden, and during
the winter I buy these 'vine ripened' hothouse
tomatoes because they are the closest thing I can
find to the real deal. The other three tomatoes that
were connected to this vine became a delicious
supper of grilled provelone and tomato sandwiches
last night...leaving this little guy all by himself.

I joined the Hawaii Watercolor Society in 2009. This is the first painting I ever submitted to any venue and I'm proud to say it was accepted by juror Ann Pember into the HWS Fall Open Juried Exhibition in Honolulu. When I do floral paintings I just love to go close in, they are alive and almost seen to speak to me. Thanks for looking.

"Graceful Repose"

6 X 6 oil on masonite

This is my sweet little Lynx Point Siamese, Smoki. Some of
you may recognize her from my very first post, "Zen".
She will be 14 this spring but still looks like
a lithe teenager.
She was a rescued kitten
and her growth was stunted from
not having a proper diet
in her formative months. She was
so wild and frightened when I brought her home that she lived
in one of my kitchen cabinets, sticking her little head out just
enough to lick some food from my finger. She hid in there
for at least 2 months before she trusted us enough to venture
out into the rest of the house.

She is my "problem cat". Very
temperamental and sincerely
wishes every day that the other two cats
would disappear
so she could soak up all the attention. This painting
shows
her in her favorite spot...right smack in the middle of
my bed.
She has claimed my room as her property and defends
it with
every ounce of her 9.5 lbs.
Although she looks peaceful, the
claws
are out and ready. Hisssssssss!

Today is a collaboration of sorts...My dearest friend, who is now in
Germany for a couple of years, has a neighbor that has a dog....THIS DOG.
