This is another addition to the Blue Nudes Series
I really enjoy painting with light and only a few colors.
It may look easy but you would be surprised how
may layers of glazes I use to get this effect.
These nudes are so minimalistic but sometimes
simplicity can be so beautiful.

Here is my latest painting, and I used my last piece of Masonite, this one may not be a strong as the last 2 but it does have some strong points, I had plateaued there for a while so with these last 3 paintings looks like I may have turned a corner, I love changing my process or materials every so often as it forces me to really focus.
I haven't decided on a title yet, was thinking something like Caged yellow" or "Fenced in". The reason being is the yellow egg cup really draws your eye when looking at the painting, as all the other objects are so dark, any suggestions for a name?
Anyways, this is a 9" x 12" Oil painting on Masonite and currently "Untitled".

This
No. 4 and one is of three orange segments balanced against one another. I placed
them on glass so that some of the reflections would be part of the
compostion. I was quite pleased with this one, although I do need to
become more precise with my brush strokes - but that's the rub isn't it?
How to do that and still remain loose and lively. I did not draw this one first but used diluted acrylic paint to mark the outline. It was painted on a white ground.
"I have challenged myself to paint 101 small daily life paintings inspired by my garden. My main aim is to improve my my eye to brush skills with a loose lively style. At the moment I plan to use oils, so that as a bonus I will improve my oil handling skills. I don't doubt that some will be done in different media depending on how the mood takes me. I aim to do at least 5 a week."

Pink roses are my all-time favorite flowers. I painted this several years ago from a photo I took of a rose in our backyard garden. I wanted the rose to just fill the entire canvas so you can almost feel it opening up before your eyes.

Good morning. I have not been posting lately as I have been getting started in my garden and trying to clean out my house from it's winter doldrums. Since spring is rolling in faster than I would like, I hope to get outside and paint this week.
I find spring is such a thrilling time of the year, I really don't know what to do first. All the crocuses I planted sprang up suddenly one day last week, the forsythia is out and the trees are starting to get that rosy hue that lasts such a short time but is so very beautiful. The weeds are also thriving and some must be removed before they go to seed and weeding becomes a battle as the seeds are projected into your eyes as you pull them out, and of course all over the garden.
The view in this painting is where I will be for the next few days and weeks, down on the ground smelling nature come alive again and reveling in the renewal of life, with Bay somewhere near by and Jake pretending he doesn't care not far off.

I got home late this afternoon from my awesome trip to Victoria, BC to discover some exciting news.
My painting, Cordoba Cafe, has been accepted into the Northwest Watercolor Society's 72nd Annual International Open Exhibition.
Woohoo!
The show is being held at the Seattle Design Center April 23-May 25, 2012.

lilies were growing in a pot outside of my kitchen door last summer. The
way the light was catching the petals intrigued me. I had to include
the dew drops. It was a challenge making them look real. I had to
wipe away the first few attempts as I had the shadows much too dark. Now that I've cracked it, watch for more dew drops on my florals.
