GREEN ANJOU PEAR ON PEDESTAL by OLGA WAGNER
Pear # 6 in my pear series is much less dramatic than it's predecessors, both in color and shape. Here we have the clean lines and distinct egg-like shape of an Anjou Pear. I am thrilled with the colors and lines on this little beauty and can't wait to frame it for hanging..

It's a shame rottweilers have developed a reputation for aggressiveness because although very strong, when they are properly brought up, they are lovely dogs.
I have just managed to get a better photograph of this painting (well remembered to do so to be honest) and thought I would tell you about the first time I got to know a rottweiler. It was many years ago, when we lived in London near Hyde Park. A couple who lived near us had two young rottweilers and the wife told me that her husband had wanted two guard dogs - they were rather wealthy! - but she had wanted two cuddly, pretty dogs and so they settled on rottweilers as being the perfect match. Well, I never discovered how they were at their guard duties, although I suspect very good, but as cuddly, pretty dogs they were perfect and certainly very friendly to those invited to their house, just wanting to play!

Meet Murphy...A happy Boston boy that was one of the lucky pups to be helped by Boston Terrier Rescue of North Carolina (www.btrnc.org). BTRNC is a great local organization dedicated to saving the lives of these cool little dogs.
This painting will be a beginning of a Dog Rescue Series .. Still trying to come up with a catchy name..Maybe something like " From Rags to Riches " or "Tails of Hope"... If you have an idea, please leave me a comment...

Landscape Impressions gouache paintings now on Etsy

I have now opened an Etsy store to sell some of my daily paintings. See Artbymarion on Etsy
I am starting with my small gouache (5"x7") paintings. These have all been mounted on black MDF to give a border and to fit into a standard photo frame, as can be seen on in the photo. All these paintings have been varnished with two coats of acrylic varnish to protect the surface, making them very durable. This also means that they can be mounted without glass.

It doesn't need to be labeled as a surreal piece. I've seen ravens about this size in Arizona and New Mexico. The room could be smaller than an average room. But it is surreal in that it has a dream like quality.
I was stuck with this painting for a while because I couldn't decide if I should add more detail, but in the end I wanted to suggest a feeling rather than create a photo-real painting.
I seem to enjoy the concept of painting birds in chairs. My painting "Raven" is one you might also want to see.
